A Half Blind Heart

A half blind heart
wonders if it is
better to be blind.

Witnessing as it does
casual cruelties
and systematic atrocities.

That a blind heart
will never see
nor dare to know.

Bearing witness
in silent horror
to the uncomprehending
evil of the blind.

It wonders
if darkness
is better
than light.

If blindness
is better
than sight.

What good
is seeing
if the world
is blind.

What good
is loving
if the world
is full of hate.

Yet neither
light nor love
would the
half blind heart
forsake.

A Rebellion of Poets, Mystics, and Dreamers

We need
a rebellion
of poets
mystics
and dreamers.

An uprising
of outcasts
of every
sort.

We will
revolt against
casual cruelty
and systematic
insanity.

We will
march
to the beat
of our own
drum.

Rebels
for peace.

Fanatics
for love.

Guerrilla warriors
no longer aping
the status quo.

We will
lay siege
to hearts
and minds.

One act
of radical kindness
at a time.
