Fearless Reason

Fearless reason in an age of frightened absurdity.

Splendor of my Being

You
cannot love
what you cannot
see.

Blind eyes
behold only
projections of
their mind.

Unable
to grasp
the reality
of their beloved.

Cling not
to the mirage
of that
which is beloved.

Behold
dear one
the splendor
of my being.

Lies No Longer Hide Us From Disgrace

Blind eyes
have been
stricken
with sight.

Lies
no longer
hide us from
disgrace.

We are not
who we
thought we
were.

Not nearly
so noble
nor hardly
so kind.

We are not
martyrs
to a righteous
cause.

We are children
playing
deadly
games.

Dying for
riches and
fleeting
fame.

Self-deceptions
no longer
make us
saints.

I Lost My Perspective

My mind
wandered behind
another’s eyes.

To see
what they see
feel what they feel
know what they know.

I was blind
to the suffering
that was not mine.

Numb
to fear and pain
not personally
felt.

Ignorant of the cruelties
dispensed by those
lost behind their own eyes.

I lost my
perspective
behind that
gaze.

Pity the Blind Heart

Pity
the blind
heart.

It knows
not what
it does.

Severed
as it is
from self
and world.

Hungry
amidst
plenty.

Thirsty
while
drowning.

Bursting
from
want.

Pity
the blind
heart.

It sees
not what
it needs.

A Half Blind Heart

A half blind heart
wonders if it is
better to be blind.

Witnessing as it does
casual cruelties
and systematic atrocities.

That a blind heart
will never see
nor dare to know.

Bearing witness
in silent horror
to the uncomprehending
evil of the blind.

It wonders
if darkness
is better
than light.

If blindness
is better
than sight.

What good
is seeing
if the world
is blind.

What good
is loving
if the world
is full of hate.

Yet neither
light nor love
would the
half blind heart
forsake.
