Lies No Longer Hide Us From Disgrace

by Zachary A. Horn

Blind eyes
have been
stricken
with sight.

Lies
no longer
hide us from
disgrace.

We are not
who we
thought we
were.

Not nearly
so noble
nor hardly
so kind.

We are not
martyrs
to a righteous
cause.

We are children
playing
deadly
games.

Dying for
riches and
fleeting
fame.

Self-deceptions
no longer
make us
saints.
