I Once Was a Warrior
by Zachary Adama
I once
was a
warrior
of great
self-importance.
A veteran
of countless
battles.
I fought
for my honor
my neighbors
and to save
the world.
I fought
always with
disappointment.
But soon
came to
crave
peace.
So I
surrendered.
My battle
unwon.
I forfeit
my honor
expectations
and desires.
And let
the world
that might be
burn.
Finally
I found
peace.
When I
let the
world be
as I found it.
Thus
the warrior
became
a mystic.
Transforming
disappointment
into
peace.
And
resistance
into
victory.
