Naked Beings

by Zachary A. Horn

Spare me
your illusions
that mirage
of another person.

Do not
present
some abstraction
of being.

Forbear
an expected manner
and conventional sentiments
conventionally stated.

Remove
that grin
you wear
as a mask.

Abandon
the role
that has become
your identity.

Your bundle
of biases
beliefs
reactions
and habits.

Surrender
for a moment
to uncontrived
communion
between two
naked beings.
